In contrast, Bita Ghezelayagh, a contemporary Iranian artist working in felt, reinterprets a traditional shepherd's cloak by embellishing her piece with 1001 key-shaped talismans and embroidered inscriptions with the phrase ‘Martyrdom is the key to paradise', a popular slogan used during the Iran-Iraq War that she frequently encountered during her childhood. Presenting embroidered, woven, appliquéd, dyed, beaded and embellished pieces, the textiles featured include rugs and mats, costumes, hats and headdresses, bags and footwear, children’s clothing, tent hangings, amulet decorations and even horse-harnesses. Pieces are grouped into themed chapters according to their purpose or meaning, enabling, for example, the comparison of domestic furnishings, wedding attire and amulets from across the region. A Fatal Feast Could Have Been Better

I've been a big fan of Murder She Wrote since day one and got used to the majority of each show being the investigation of a murder and not non-essentials of the story before the murder. Unfortunately, this book, and the last two, spend way too many pages of details unnecessary to the plot. As a result, Jessica's sleuthing gets short-changed and rushed.

I favor the books that take place in Cabot Cove since they involve Jessica's close friends Seth and Mort. Interaction with them is kept to a minimum due to visiting Scotland Yard's George, whom Donald Bain introduced awhile back as a potential romantic interest for Jessica. They still can't make up their minds where to take their friendship, which further reduces pages for sleuthing. Seems like the memory of Frank's love promoted in the TV series is now gone.

The storyline has good potential. Too bad not all of it made it into the book.

Not up to scratch

Quite disappointed with this one. The book seems to be made up of recounting storylines from other books throughout as well as using the same GLOTCOYB letter mystery which takes up most of the book. The actual murder story seems to be a sideline and bearly noticeable.

Disappointed! I suggest you give this a miss unless you really want to relive other stories and reused plots from a previous book.

A Feast For the Ages

This is such a delightful book. This time Jesssica really has her hands full. First, She has a book deadline to meet as well as pageant and thanksgiving feast to fulfill. Not to mention a mystery to solve with the help of her Scotland yard friend George. But as always Jessica is in rare form. This novel has suspense,humor and intrigue. With a whisper of romance on the side. If you are fan of the Murder She Wrote novels this will make you a bigger fan.

I wrote this book using the notes that I scribbled down while studying for the neurosurgery oral board examination. This book is not intended to serve as a replacement for the classic neurosurgical texts, but as a supplement to the knowledge gained during the long years of residency and in the early stages of practice. I tried to focus on the major aspects of diseases that a neurosurgeon may encounter, both in clinical practice and on the examination. For a more thorough helping of knowledge, consider thumbing through the texts in the reference list. My favorite is Comprehensive Neurosurgical Board Review, but I may be a little biased. That book was geared for the written boards, but the anatomy, pathology/radiology, neurology, and neurosurgery sections provide useful information that is not covered in this text. I must admit that I was a tad intimidated by the oral examination before I lived through it. I expected hear "So Dr. Citow can you please show me the incision for the hypoglossal-pundendal nerve anastomsas used for people who constantly speak out of their asses…" But it really was a fair test and a surprisingly pleasant experience. I truly got the sense that the examiners are out to reinforce their preconceived notion that the examinee (you) is indeed competent (not the other way around) and makes reasonable decisions. They are not out to trick you with obscure details. Stay relaxed and suggest exactly what you would do in everyday practice (not at the Mayo Clinic) and all will be fine. The only disheartening aspect of the test is that none of the examiners smile (but this may be their baseline state) or acknowledge that you are correct, but neither do your patients in the hospital, unless they have been on the Internet. . . . An outstanding work

I finally found myself in that book. I thought I was lost going through big texts of neurosurgery and I could not grasp all the information needed to pass my exam. Now that this amazing book is available I'm sure I will pass the exam . It provides a good frame for studying and contains all one needs to prepare for the neurosurgery exam. It saves time and a lot of effort . I envy younger neurosurgeons because this work is now available at their hands.. study will be much easier.

Description: This is a valuable and helpful resource that contains most of the fundamental information that a neurosurgery resident needs to know in order to pass the written boards. The book is written by specialists in a variety of disciplines, mainly neurosurgery, neurology, and pathology from the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Purpose: The book is targeted to junior and senior neurosurgery residents, who typically have little time available to absorb the massive amount of literature pertaining to the neurosurgical science. The purpose is primarily to provide a comprehensive board review for neurosurgery residents. This is a worthy and important objective and the book largely meets it. The material can also be very helpful to academic neurosurgeons engaged in teaching activities, physicians from variable specialties, medical students, and other health care professionals attentive to the field of Neurosurgery.

Audience: "Young Neurosurgeons preparing for the hurdles for professional examinations will find this to be a most valuable aid". The authors are credible authorities and have an exact understanding of what their audience wants and needs from this comprehensive review.

Features: A wide variety of topics are concisely reviewed with a special focus to deliver take home messages. The sequence of chapters is defined in the preface and the book is divided into six chapters: Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Radiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Critical Care. The index is very helpful and the book is supplemented by a considerable number of fine quality illustrations.

Neurosurgery review books at their best.

This is a perfect example of works that matured over the years into a kind of a legend. It's an excellent review source for board exams and the FRCS(SN). Personally, I think it's a must have for neurosurgical residents and registrars. Having said that, I must say, this book is NOT "neurosurgery for dummies". It is only a review book designed to draw your attention to important points and emphasize its significance. It's not designed to cover all and everything you need to know!.

PROS:
1) It is much more refined than the previous edition.
2) It is much more organised
3) Appears to Include Citow's other books under one cover. I don't recommend buying them if you buy this one.
i.e. a) "Neuoradiology and neuropathology :a review" --> LINK : Neuropathology and Neuroradiology: A Review
b) "Neuroanatomy and neuropysiology :A review" --> LINK :Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology: A Review

CONS:
1) All in American units ... Any edition for the European market?

About the Author
Dr. Tawfik Abdo Saleh is a faculty member in the Chemistry Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He has published several papers in international refereed journals and conference proceedings, has authored and edited several books and book chapters, and he is a member of several local and international scientific societies. He has supervised many graduate students. His expertise includes, but is not limited to, the synthesis, design, and preparation of materials, nanomaterials, nanocomposites, and hybrid materials and their applications. His expertise also includes materials characterization using various techniques.

Dr. Vinod Kumar Gupta is Professor of Chemistry at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee, India, and is currently working as SARCHI Chair Professor in the Applied Chemistry Department at the University of Johannesburg, Johannesburg, South Africa. He has published more than 500 papers with 37,000 citations and an h-index of 127. He is editor of many journals and is on the editorial board of more than 20 international journals. He has more than 30 years of research experience in environmental engineering, electro-analytical chemistry, chemical sensors, and waste management.

Over the past decade there has been a tremendous upsurge in both popular interest and original writing on history of witchcraft and witch - hunting in the early modern period. This activity has shown just how complex the subject is.  It is hard for those coming new to it to pick their way through a mass of information and of competing interpretations.

`Witchcraft in Early Modern England' introduces readers to the current state of debate and to future directions for investigation. It covers such fundamental topics as:

* witchcraft as an intellectual and theological problem

* neighbourly tensions related to witchcraft accusations

* the issue of witchcraft and gender

* the problem of the decline of witch - persecution.

The book is characterised throughout by a straightforward approach which guides the reader through the sometimes difficult details of this fascinating but much - misunderstood subject. The interpretative text is accompanied by a selection of documentary extracts, some of them never previously published, which allows the reader to get to grips with witchcraft as it was experienced in the past, and to understand  how historians have constructed their interpretations of early modern witchcraft.

James Sharpe is Professor of History at York University.  A leading authority on witchcraft, his many publications include `The Bewitching of Anne Gunter' (2000).

This is a book written by a well known historian on the topic. This is more of an overview of why the witchcraft trials occured in early modern England and this can be helpful for anyone who is just getting into the subject. It's an easy and quick read but still very informative.

As a sports and fitness enthusiast, I believe Nicolas is really onto something here. Explosiveness off the block is key to so many sports, and in this book there are a plethora of ideas to improve that explosiveness, whether it's for increasing a vertical jump or coming off the starting blocks as a sprinter. Also, the importance of diet is addressed in this book. If you want clear and well-rounded explanations for improving your athletic abilities, GET THIS BOOK!
